wear one's heart on one's sleeve 不掩饰自己的情感；心直口快

这句成语源出莎士比亚的《奥赛罗》第一幕第一场：“那么不久我就要掏出我的心来，让乌鸦们乱啄了（But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve / For daws to peck at …）”。 在中世纪时，武士总是在袖口上佩戴花朵以示自己时时挂念心爱的人；所以这句成语又喻“不掩饰自己的情感”，“表示自己对某人的爱情”。

例1：We do not specially respect him who wears his heart upon his sleeve for daws to peck at … 我们不特别尊重直率得太没思考的人。（A. Trollope: Ralph the Heir, Vol. I, Chapter 1）

例2：In all his performances ...... he never wears his heart on his sleeve: you sense his reserve, his secrecy, his self-control. 他在所有的表演中……从不流露他内心的感情：你从中意识到他的审慎，他的讳莫如深，他的自我克制。
