the three R’s  基本三会 — 会读、会写、会算

一八五〇年有人谈到初等教育时提出这条成语，因为读（reading）、写（writing）和算（arithmetic）三个词中都有字母“R”，故有此称。

例：The three R's are the necessary fundamental subjects of primary education. 基本三会是初等教育必要的基础科目。
