lay something to heart 铭记在心;耿耿于怀
源出《圣经*传道书》第七章第二节:“活人也必将把这事放在心上。” (The living will lay it to his heart.) 另外,莎士比亚在《麦克白》第一幕第五场中也说:“把它放在你的心头。” (Lay it to thy heart.)
例:To do Alice justice, though she listens to such lessons she does not lay them to heart as she might. 公平对待爱丽丝吧! 虽然她听过这些课以后,未能像她本来可能做到的那样,把功课牢记在心。
