(an) eye for (an) eye 以眼还眼

源出《圣经*申命记》第十九章第二十一节：“你眼不可顾惜，要以命偿命，以眼还眼，以牙还牙，以手还手，以脚还脚。”  (And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.)

例： I did not believe in the death penalty -- an eye for an eye -- but how else cannot stop this sort of thing? 我不赞成死刑 -- 以眼还眼的办法 -- 但我们能用什么别的办法来阻止这类事情发生呢？
